Production Module User Guide

Detailed guides for working with production orders, production models, and other module features. The Production module provides comprehensive tools for planning, managing, and tracking the manufacturing process - from BOM definition through production start to completion and stocking of finished goods.

Purpose and Scope

This documentation covers the complete production process lifecycle:

  • Production preparation - production models, BOMs, operations
  • Planning - capacity, deadlines, material availability
  • Execution - work recording, material consumption, subcontracting
  • Completion - quality control, stocking, evaluation

Who is this guide for

This guide is intended for technologists, production planners, supervisors, and operators who work with the production system. For module administration, see Production Administration.

Core Entities and Relationships

Entity Purpose Relationship
Production Model Defines "how to produce" Template for orders
Model Item Material in BOM Product + quantity
Model Operation Work step Operation + machine + time
Production Order Specific request Model instance
Work Performed Work record Operation + worker + time
Subcontracting External production Supplier + cost

Production Types

The system supports various production process types:

Production based on specific customer order.

Characteristic Description
Initiation Customer order
Planning Individual deadlines
Material Specific reservation
Suitable for Unique products, prototypes

Example

Manufacturing a machine part to order based on customer drawings.

Repeated production of standard products.

Characteristic Description
Initiation Production plan / stock replenishment
Planning Optimized batches
Material Bulk reservation
Suitable for Standard products

Example

Weekly production of 500 pcs of standard components.

Part of production is handled by external supplier.

Characteristic Description
Initiation Internal order
Planning Coordination with supplier
Delivery Material to supplier and back
Suitable for Specialized operations

Example

Surface treatment (painting) at external supplier.

Prerequisites

System Requirements

Before starting work with production, verify:

  • [x] You have been granted production access rights
  • [x] Products are created in the Product module
  • [x] At least one warehouse is set up for production
  • [x] Basic operations are defined (welding, assembly, etc.)
  • [x] Workplaces and machines are created (optional)

Integration with Other Modules

Product Module

flowchart LR
    P[Product] -->|finished good| PM[Production Model]
    P -->|material| PMI[Model Items]
    PM -->|produces| P
  • Finished goods - "Stock Item" type products as production output
  • Materials - products as input raw materials in BOM
  • Costing - automatic production cost calculation

Warehouse Module

    PO[Production Order] -->|reservation| WI[Stock Item]
    PO -->|issue| GI[Material Issue]
    PO -->|receipt| GR[Product Receipt]
    WI -->|availability| PO
  • Reservation - automatic material reservation during planning
  • Issue - material consumption when starting production
  • Receipt - stocking finished products

Invoicing Module

flowchart LR
    CO[Subcontracting] -->|costs| PF[Received Invoice]
    PO[Production Order] -->|link| SO[Sales Order]
  • Subcontracting - invoicing from external suppliers

Subcontracting Delay

Procedure for subcontracting delays

  1. Contact supplier - determine new deadline
  2. Update order - adjust planned dates
  3. Inform customer - if it affects delivery
  4. Consider alternatives - different supplier, in-house production
